Thinking globally, acting locally

Environmental protection is a priority for the conservation of precious natural resources and the continued health of our planet. EMI recognizes its responsibility as a global citizen and is continually striving to reduce the environmental impact of the work we do and the products we use.  How we impact the environment is important to us, and environmental considerations are an integral part of EMI’s business practices.

Energy efficiency
A device’s greatest environmental impact is often its energy consumption over time.   At our Idaho Falls office we shut down all computer system after hours that are not needed.  This saves hundreds to thousands on our electricity bill each year.

Our code of conduct
In addition to preserving the environment, EMI is also committed to protecting the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the global community. We recognize that by integrating sound environmental, health, and safety management practices into all aspects of our business, we can offer technologically innovative products and services while conserving and enhancing resources for future generations.

A history of sound practice
Year after year, EMI has set and met important goals to phase out environmentally relevant substances, create recycling programs and improve energy efficiency. Here are some of the most important milestones in our quest for environmental responsibility:

2004 started recycling aluminum cans: we recycle 1500 cans a year from just one office
2005 started a PC recycling program
2006 Started a Energy Conservation Program
2007 upgraded computers to Energy Star rating
2008 replaced office lighting with electronic ballast, which cut our lighting bill in half

2009 started using remanufactured ink and toner cartridges

2010 created an electronic file cabinet for storing old documents in new ways
